The New Orleans Saints faced a tough 27-19 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. Making his first start, Josh Dobbs, the former aerospace engineering major at Tennessee affectionately nicknamed “The Passtronaut,” stepped up admirably in the absence of injured players, showcasing his talent by throwing for a career-high 268 yards and contributing two touchdowns.
Dobbs’ preparation and performance left an indelible impression on Coach Kevin O’Connell and his staff, helping the Vikings secure their fifth consecutive victory.
The Vikings’ offense, led by Dobbs and the remarkable T.J. Hockenson, who had a staggering 10 catches for 128 yards and a touchdown in the first half, built a commanding 24-point halftime lead. However, the Saints didn’t go down without a fight, as Jameis Winston replaced the injured Derek Carr and orchestrated two impressive touchdown passes to narrow the gap.
Nevertheless, Dobbs’ poise and the stellar play of Mekhi Blackmon and Byron Murphy on defense sealed the victory for the Vikings. Despite the Saints’ best efforts, they continue to struggle against teams with winning records this season and face challenges due to injuries to key players. As they head into their bye week, they must regroup and prepare for their upcoming clash with Atlanta on November 26.
