Daniel Carlson’s field goal narrowed the gap to 21–17. After Detroit answered with three points, Shough connected with Chris Olave for 43 yards, then Juwan Johnson for a nine-yard touchdown to help tie it with 1:07 remaining. Fans can appreciate that resolve while still expecting cleaner football from the opening possession. Playing with urgency late is valuable; making that urgency part of a complete game is the next challenge.

The finish will invite debate about going for the win. The broader evaluation must also include the mistakes that made such an extraordinary recovery necessary. A team cannot count on rescuing itself from that position every week.
There is room for pride and frustration after this one. The Saints showed heart, stayed together through adversity and made Detroit earn the result. Now they have to turn that fight into a more consistent performance—and a victory.
